To deepen the implementation of the spirit of the Central Eight-point Regulation, advance learning and education initiatives, strengthen grassroots engagement with students, and fulfill the fundamental mission of fostering virtue and cultivating talent, the Business School hosted the “Lunch with Leaders” event on April 23. This face-to-face dialogue brought together college leaders and student representatives from diverse grades and academic disciplines to listen to student perspectives, understand their needs, and support their holistic development. Participants included Party Secretary Fan Jiangtao, Dean He Yurun, Deputy Party Secretary Zhang Yue, and Associate Dean Qiu Yong.
During the luncheon, students shared their personal experiences related to academic and campus life and actively discussed key topics including course instruction, academic planning, innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, career development, and administrative support services. The attending faculty members responded thoughtfully, drawing upon their professional expertise and insights into disciplinary trends and employment prospects to address each student inquiry in detail. They offered personalized guidance to help students navigate critical decisions, clarify long-term goals, and chart meaningful developmental pathways.
Fan Jiangtao emphasized that student growth is intrinsically linked to the development of the college. The college places high importance on students’ holistic development and has established regular, multi-channel communication mechanisms to better understand their ideological dynamics and address their practical needs. Through timely guidance and targeted support, the college strives to resolve students’ academic and personal concerns and ensure a supportive environment for their growth. He encouraged every student to embrace a sense of ownership, cultivate strong professional competencies, take on the responsibilities of the new era, and strive to become capable and responsible individuals qualified to contribute to the great rejuvenation of the nation.
He Yurun emphasized the importance of students proactively adapting to the evolving demands of the artificial intelligence era. Grounded in the university’s “integration of business and industry” development philosophy, he encouraged students to leverage interdisciplinary digital business studies as a foundation to strengthen both professional expertise and research capabilities. He urged students to adopt a forward-looking perspective in addressing challenges, to achieve personal and academic growth through problem-solving, and to remain dedicated to their scholarly pursuits with clear aspirations for excellence. In doing so, he expressed confidence that students would make meaningful contributions to the advancement of the university’s “Double First-Class” initiative and the building of a high-level research-oriented institution.
